Effect of Friction Stir Processing on AZ91 Mg-alloy: A Review
نویسندگان
چکیده
Generally properties of as-cast AZ91 soft Mg-alloy can be improved by conventional artificial aging. Conventional methods are time consuming and expensive process. Friction stir processing (FSP) based on working principle welding replace the processes at some extent. FSP generates enough heat in process to decrease grain size coarse grains significantly accordingly alter properties. extensive used for modification morphology, refinement etc. especially as cast alloys. By performing successfully alloy many changed varying friction parameters. The resultant processed alloys credited plastic deformation sheet rotating non-consumable tool. Due number dislocation increase it may pile up, a result movement dislocations restricted required more stress deform, thus strengthen alloy. Tool plays crucial role, tool shoulder pin generate frictional heat, also improve material flow characteristics. reduced enhanced various This paper mainly reviews effect terms enhancement.

Influence of Process Parameters on Microstructure of Friction Stir Processed Mg AZ31 Alloy
Friction stir processing (FSP) has been developed on the principles of friction stir welding (FSW) as an effective and efficien new method for grain refinement and microstructural modification, providing intense plastic deformation as well as higher strain rates than other conventional severe plastic deformation methods. FSP produces an equiaxed homogeneous microstructure consisting of fine gra...
متن کاملAnalysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...

For hot extrusions of magnesium alloy sheets, Dissimilar AZ80 and AZ31 were used, in which AZ80 was placed on advancing side and AZ31 on retreating side, using friction stir butt welding with different process parameters. Some defect-free welded joints with good weld surfaces could be obtained with some suitable welding conditions. The maximum tensile strength of welded joint which is 225.5 MPa...
متن کاملTHERMAL STABILITY OF FRICTION STIR PROCESSED ULTRAFINE GRAINED Al-Mg-Sc ALLOY
Two different aspects of the thermal stability of grains were studied – (i) thermal stability of grain structure evolution during friction stir processing (FSP), and (ii) thermal stability of grains after FSP. It was concluded that Al3(Sc,Zr) dispersoids are effective in limiting grain growth to ultrafine grained regime (UFG) by stabilizing the microstructure during FSP. The presence of these d...
متن کاملFriction stir welding and processing
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient, environment friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining in a de...
